Dutch sociology

In the period 2003-2006 I chaired the Sociology Foresight Committee on the future of Dutch Sociology, Foresight Committee Sociology (2006) Working and Living Together. A Future for Dutch Sociology, and in the period 2017-2024 I chaired the Dutch Sociological Association. 


In 2022, Dutch sociology celebrated its 100th anniversary (find more information about the anniversary book here]. During my career I became convinced it is imperative to combine professional sociology with policy and public sociology, and that multilingualism is important in order to reach out to multiple publics (academic as well as non- academic). Most of my work on Dutch sociology is in Dutch.
